Artist Statement

I have often used places I have visited as a theme for my paintings and stories. The work becomes the journey itself with all its unexpectedness, a parallel road that allows me to reinvent the place in my own way using the symbols and images that have touched me. My paintings are narratives, an extension of my somewhat imaginary friends.

At home, on Scotland Island, I am surrounded by water that constantly changes and adapts to the whims of the weather and beneath that water lives the same culture of creatures who connect, metaphysically, in one way or another. I skim across the water every day and marvel at their ingenuity. My work endeavours to capture the stories of all these others.
